Let’s Get Crafty: Fish Leather Making – Part 1

Leather is all around us in our daily lives, but did you know that when you tan fish skin you can create a durable and strong leather? Join Titus Seilheimer, Fisheries Specialist with Wisconsin Sea Grant, for a hands-on learning experience.
In this two-part class we will spend a full day together (December 4) preparing the skins and then starting the tanning process. After a week of self-directed steps (don’t worry, you won’t have to do much), we will gather together again (from 9 am- 12 pm on Friday, December 11) to complete the final steps and you will leave with your very own piece of tanned fish leather from a local fish species.
There will be a break for lunch so feel free to bring something to eat or take a moment to pop over to you favorite local restaurant.
🎟️ Please prepare to get messy, but all other equipment and supplies are provided!
