DESCRIPTION:Leather is all around us in our daily lives\, but did you know that when you tan fish skin you can create a durable and strong leather? Join Titus Seilheimer\, Fisheries Specialist with Wisconsin Sea Grant\, for a hands-on learning experience. \nIn this two-part class we will spend a full day together (December 4) preparing the skins and then starting the tanning process. After a week of self-directed steps (don’t worry\, you won’t have to do much)\, we will gather together again (from 9 am- 12 pm on Friday\, December 11) to complete the final steps and you will leave with your very own piece of tanned fish leather from a local fish species. \nThere will be a break for lunch so feel free to bring something to eat or take a moment to pop over to you favorite local restaurant. \n🎟️ Please prepare to get messy\, but all other equipment and supplies are provided! \n\n\n\n\n💛 Free & Open to the Public! \n📝 Space is limited so please register below.

Through stories\, games\, hands-on activities\, and plenty of time to play and learn outdoors\, children and caregivers will build curiosity\, confidence\, social connections\, and a deeper appreciation for nature together. \n\nThis is a family program\, so parents or guardians are required to stay and participate throughout each session. Siblings and other family members are warmly welcome to join the fun. \nWe meet rain\, snow\, or shine\, so come dressed for outdoor exploration and the changing weather. If conditions are too severe for outdoor activities\, we’ll move indoors for nature-themed games\, crafts\, and learning experiences. \nSpace is limited so please register below.
