Monarch Tagging Day
August 30 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Monarchs may be the most widely recognized butterflies around, but how much do you know about their life cycle and migration? Guest naturalist Karen Newbern will offer a fascinating program on the life cycle of these well-known insects. She will also describe the amazing migration these orange and black butterflies will make to isolated forest groves in Mexico where they will overwinter.
After the talk Karen will demonstrate the method for tagging monarchs. Then participants, armed with insect nets, will venture out into the meadows at Crossroads to catch, tag and release the monarchs, assuming weather conditions and monarch migration patterns cooperate.
This program is being co-sponsored by Wild Ones-Door Peninsula and Crossroads at Big Creek.
Reservations not required. Suitable for all ages. Free and open to the public. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.
